Lars Hagberg have been based in Kingston, Ont. since graduating from Loyalist College in 2007. Some of the editorial clients that he shoots for include, the Canadian Press, Reuters, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and AFP(Agence France Presse). Hagberg mostly shoots general assignments… from portraits, to sport news, to features to press conferences. He also shoots for Queen’s University and other non-editorial clients in Kingston.Hagberg covers a good part of Eastern Ontario, from Port Hope to Brockville, from Kingston to Ottawa. He has also photographed many times at CFB Trenton, as it is Canada’s biggest air base. So whether troops arrive or depart, it tends to be national news.

“I love being outside and shooting pictures. In Kingston we have a wonderful waterfront, so it doesn’t matter which time of the year it is. There are always people doing interesting activities along the water front. The picture that I attached has all of that. Great Canadian winter activity, sunset and the water front. I also love how the ice made a great pattern as a backdrop for the skater. Just taking the camera with you and walking around looking for pictures sometimes generates the best outcome. Whether that is for a full moon rising, thick fog or kite surfing.”

Photojournalism program testimonial

The photojournalism department at Loyalist College provided me with great support from the teachers to learn the craft of photography. It taught us how to see extraordinary pictures in the everyday. It was wonderful to have the fellow students to bounce ideas off of and share our love of photography.
